A fabulous evening of live jazz in the beautiful Walled Garden at Loseley Park:
AN EVENING UNDER THE STARS WITH THE PLANETS
Pete Long, musical director of the acclaimed Ronnie Scott’s Big Band, presents a sensational jazz arrangement of The Planets, Gustav Holst’s hugely influential musical journey across the galaxy. Gustav Holst’s orchestral suite “The Planets” has become a mainstay of the concert repertoire due to its evocative moods and memorable melodies. This melodic strength enables the tunes to be adapted into the jazz milieu, with results that are stimulating, exciting and on occasion, amusing!
A TRIBUTE TO BENNY GOODMAN
The classic clarinet and vibes-led quintet revisits some of the iconic treatments of jazz standards made famous by the “King of Swing”, the great Benny Goodman.
Benny Goodman pioneered the small band sound of Clarinet and Vibraphone as a front-line duo. Here the quintet will be re-visiting the big hits made famous by the Goodman small band. Expect Air Mail Special, A Smo-o-o-o-th One, Flyin’ Home, Seven Come Eleven and more!
featuring: Pete Long – clarinet, Anthony Kerr – vibes, Robin Aspland – piano, Ed Richardson – drums, Marianne Windham – bass
